Working Hard on Healthcare Reform
Since we last brought you November's newsletter healthcare reform has taken over our lives. Stupak is officially a proper noun, verb and sometimes even an adjective in the office. As the holidays arrive, Senate votes tonight on their final version of the reform Bill.
On the way to this vote we spent December fighting hard to keep Stupaking out of the Senate and are grateful to each and every one of you who worked to get the Nelson Amendment tabled. Students organized across the country, collected petition signatures and had LTEs in their local papers. Here in DC Choice USA took a lead role in the Stop Stupak Coalition: we rallied, lobbied and made lots of noise on the Hill on December 2nd.
As we end the year, we are saying goodbye with a huge hug to our former Southern States Field Associate Molly Dilworth. Molly's three and a half years filled us with heart, humor and amazing organizational skills, all of which we already miss. We wish her the best of luck as she starts a new chapter in her life
Have a wonderful holiday week! We will be sure to keep in touch as healthcare reform makes it back into Conference and then hops again through the House and Senate.
Watch Jane Seymour's speech at the Stop Stupak rally!
