Maryam Ramadan is a graduate from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London where she received her Masters in Gender Studies. Her focus of studies has been on West African women and how they live their Islam. While in the UK, she planned and organized many events such as a tribute to Malcolm X which she also organized this past February at the Malcolm X center in NY. Currently she is the Outreach and Events Specialist at the Council of American Islamic Relations in New York (CAIR-NY). She is also organizing CIMEF in Senegal this summer, the largest conference that bring together activists from Islamic French Speaking countries. She has traveled extensively and visited various Muslim communities around the world. With all her travels she has met many women leaders and this has driven her to advocate for women's rights in Islam
