Fri, April 11: #RaiseUpWomen Coalition Takes Action & Plans Next Steps

On behalf of the #RaiseUpNY coalition, we would like to thank you for supporting the movement for better wages for workers in New York. As you know, raising wages is a women's issue; and we have received 125 signatures from women representing prominent national, state, and local organizations, including dozens of female elected officials from all levels of government, asking Albany to give local governments the power to raise wages for over 3 million low wage workers across New York State. There is growing national momentum and broad voter support for raising wages and lifting workers out of poverty -- and we're committed to making that happen in New York. A great article by Ken Lovett in the NY Daily News covers the release of the letter.
Please join us to talk about our next steps on the #RaiseUpWomen campaign:
Friday, April 11 at 10:00 a.m.
SEIU Local 32BJ
25 W 18th Street, New York, NY 10011
If you cannot attend the meeting in person, you can call in at 530-881-1300 (code: 909053#).
Please feel free to extend this invitation to other women committed to raising wages and have them sign our petition. Breakfast will be served, so please RSVP to Martha Ayon at 718-213-1550 or mayon@nycommunities.org.
Also, please note, our Albany #RaiseUpWomen press conference has been rescheduled for Wednesday, April 30. The location and time will be sent along soon. If you would like to attend, please RSVP to Martha Ayon at 718-213-1550 or mayon@nycommunities.org.
We look forward to seeing you this Friday!
